How the auction works

  1. Those interested in taking part in the bidding must fill in a form at reception that includes their name and address and produce valid ID in the form of an identity card or a driver’s license. You will then be issued with a bidder’s number.

  2. Bidders who are unable to be present on the day of the auction may submit their bid in writing. The written bid must be available to Steinfels Weinauktionen 2 days before the start of the auction (please click here for a bidding order form). Alternatively, you may authorise a third party to do the bidding for you. This requires written authorisation.

  3. As a rule, and unless higher bids were submitted in writing, the individual items in the catalogue (lots) will start at approx. 20% below the lowest estimate.

  4. The bids increase in the following increments (in Swiss Francs):

    Starting price  Increments
    CHF 0 - 100 CHF 5
    CHF 100 - 200  CHF 10
    CHF 200 - 1000  CHF 20
    CHF 1'000 - 2'000  CHF 50
    CHF 2'000 - 10'000  CHF 100
    CHF 10'000 - 20'000  CHF 200
    Uber CHF 20'000  CHF 500

  5. If you want to bid for an item at the price indicated by the auctioneer, please hold up your bidding number. We do not accept hand signals.

  6. The item will be awarded to the highest bidder after the highest bid has been called out three times.

  7. After the auction, please present your auction number at the cash desk.

  8. It is possible to purchase lots that were not auctioned off until 10 days after the auction at the minimum price indicated. Auction regulations apply to subsequent purchases.
